South Side families face child care cuts

Terri Butler MP said the Abbott Government has introduced legislation currently before the Parliament that has the sole purpose of cutting the Child Care Benefit which 3,570 families in Griffith rely on.

The Child Care Benefit is a means-tested payment to low and middle income families to assist with the cost of child care. This cut will directly hit families earning as little as $42,000 a year.

A Sad Day For South Side Ship Workers

Terri Butler MP has expressed her sympathy for the workers at Forgacs Cairnscross following today’s decision to close its Colmslie dockyard.

“It is disappointing that the workers at this facility will be without work in just four weeks.

“My heart goes out to these workers and their families.

“Workers I spoke to at the dockyard just two weeks ago were very concerned about the significant downturn in the shipbuilding and maintenance industry.

After surveying locals in the Griffith electorate and speaking to various stakeholders, I made the following submission to Brisbane Airport Corporation regarding Aircraft Noise.

This submission is made in my capacity as the Member for Griffith. I have attempted to state my constituents’ views, as discerned from the survey I conducted, and to propose, measured, balanced means of mitigating aircraft noise.  This submission does not necessarily represent the views of any political party.
