ABBOTT’S HOSPITAL CUTS COMING TO THE PA HOSPITAL IN GRIFFITH

New analysis shows the Abbott Government has delivered a major blow to the PA Hospital and local health services in Griffith.

Tony Abbott has already shown his priority is to cut health funding and force every Australian to pay more.

Metro South Hospital and Health Service has been hit with a massive $17.45m cut, with a cut of $2.6m this year alone.

These are cuts that have been made before Tony Abbott has even handed down his first Budget – a budget that will reveal the cuts that are being made in secret and show once and for all what the twisted priorities of this government are.

“Tony Abbott cannot be trusted when it comes to investing in health,” Terri Butler said.

The government has had a choice to make about whether it invests in Australia’s hospitals and provides families with the healthcare they need – Tony Abbott’s choice has been to slash services.

“The Liberals are ripping money out of our local hospitals, reducing access to health services with its new GP Tax, and imposing the largest increase to the Private Health Insurance Premiums in a decade,” the Member for Griffith said.

“These cuts hurt families and patients right across my electorate”

Despite promising not to cut any funds from health, the 2013-14 MYEFO document shows the Coalition will spend $560 million less on Australia’s public hospitals compared to what was committed by the Labor government.

“Health was always a priority for Labor in government just as it remains a priority for us now,” said Shadow Minister for Health Catherine King.

“The May Budget is about choices for the Abbott Government.” Ms Butler said

“Will the Liberals choose to invest in healthcare or will they choose to impose a GP tax on families already struggling with the cost of living?”

“So far, Tony Abbott has shown his priority is to cut money to hospitals despite promising before the election there would be no cuts to health.”
