Keep kindy funding beyond 2017

Kindy funding is once again under threat. Call on Malcolm Turnbull and the Liberals to save it.

The federal government provides funding for universal access to kindy. The funding helps make sure that children have access to at least 15 hours of kindy per week for 40 weeks in the year.

Labor introduced this funding when we were in government. We committed $955 million over five years. Since the Liberals came to power, they have extended the funding only for one or two years at a time.

The result is that kindy funding is once again under threat. Under Malcolm Turnbull and the Liberals, federal funding for kindy is due to run out at the end of this year.

In the lead up to the federal budget, it’s a great time to call on Mr Turnbull and his government to commit to continuing to fund kindy access for Australian kids.
