Letter to the Defence Minister regarding Bulimba Barracks

The following is a letter to the Defence Minister regarding the Bulimba Barracks.

You can download it as a pdf here.

Senator the Hon David Johnston
Minister for Defence
Senator for Western Australia
PO Box 6100
PARLIAMENT HOUSE ACT 2600

Dear Minister,

Re: Barracks site at Bulimba

I refer to the above site. As you are aware, the Army Joint Logistics Unit, presently located at the above site, is in the process of relocating to Amberley.

As you also know, the Navy also uses the site.

I request that you urgently advise:

1. Whether the Navy is to remain at that site, or whether the Navy personnel will also be relocating;

2. What the Commonwealth intends to do with the portion of the land that has been in use for the JLU’s purposes;

3. Without limiting the foregoing, if sale is intended, will there be a tender process, will it be an open tender, and what will the process comprise?

Given community interest I request your response at your earliest convenience. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully

Terri Butler MP
Federal Member for Griffith
