LGBTI Legal Service Secures QLD Government Funding

Shadow Minister for Equality, Terri Butler MP, welcomes the announcement today that the Queensland Government will provide funding for three years to the LGBTI Legal Service.

The volunteer run community legal service, which has been running unfunded for the past seven years, provides free legal advice to people who have legal problems arising from their identification as LGBTI and people who feel more comfortable talking to a solicitor with specific skills and understanding of LGBTI issues.

“I welcome this announcement by the Queensland Government to fund the LGBTI Legal Service in Brisbane,” Ms Butler said.

“The LGBTI Legal Service does incredible work with extremely limited resources,”

“I’m sure this funding will go a long way to assist vulnerable LGBTI Queenslanders,” Ms Butler said.
