National Indigenous Youth Parliament

The third National Indigenous Youth Parliament (NIYP) is being conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission in collaboration with the YMCA and the Museum of Australian Democracy in Canberra from 23-29 May 2017. APPLY NOW!

The NIYP is a week-long leadership program for 50 young Indigenous Australian leaders aged from 16 to 25. The aim is to promote active community leadership and a commitment to democratic processes. 

The program will provide expert training in how government works, how laws are made, public speaking and dealing with the media. The young parliamentarians will learn from the nation's leaders, members of the parliamentary press gallery, Indigenous leaders and senior public servants.
