TERRI BUTLER MP CALLS ON MR HOCKEY TO COME CLEAN ON CUTS IN GRIFFITH

Member for Griffith Terri Butler MP today wrote to Treasurer Joe Hockey calling on him to immediately release the 900 pages of the Government’s Commission of Audit Report.

Ms Butler said the Abbott Government had been sitting on the final report for weeks and Mr Hockey owed it to the people of Griffith to come clean on what cuts are contained in the report.

“Under Mr Abbott’s government, a number of possible cuts and changes have been leaked, starting with the GP tax during the course of the Griffith by-election,” she said.

“The Abbott Government must come clean with our community.

“The reported GP Tax would take another $3.9 million each year out of Southside locals’ pockets, to visit the doctor.

“The Prime Minister has failed to rule out cuts to the Age Pension and the Disability Support Pension.

“That’s another blatant broken promise from Mr Abbott.

“Any cuts to pensions would disadvantage the 14,900 pensioners in my electorate.

“The Abbott Government has been desperate to confect a ‘budget emergency’ to try to justify its cuts and broken promises.

“Mr Abbott and his Government need to fix their twisted priorities and broken promises before the May Budget.

“Even the Commission of Audit chair, Tony Shepherd, has said publishing the Commission’s report ‘is a good idea,’” Ms Butler said.
