Remove the Coorparoo Level Crossing

The level crossing at Coorparoo must be removed. Labor has committed $107 million to fix this major Southside traffic snarl.

The crossing is a headache for Southsiders, especially during peak hour.

The Commonwealth should make a contribution towards the removal of this crossing, in order to keep locals safe, and bust traffic congestion on the Southside.

The Brisbane City Council is well aware of the need to remove this level crossing. The 2014 Brisbane City Plan had an estimated completion date of 2026 – 2031 for this project, but they haven't committed the funding.

The Cavendish Road level crossing was one of five open level crossings identified by the South-East Queensland Council of Mayors as a priority for removal back in 2016. They have identified it as a priority again in their 2019 people mass movement study.

It has also been identified as a priority by the “Rail back on track” public transport advocacy group.

Locals should not have to wait any longer. I'm calling on the Federal government to provide funds towards this project, to get it moving. Will you sign my petition to show your support?
